This is great

Though I wouldn't go so far as to say that people on this site suck their fathers' genitals. You only look like an idiot insulting the general populous (as far as your audience is concerned) with such hideous grammar as to use "there" as opposed to "their."

That said, I think in the beginning, you could have had your cousin do one more take. The emotion and voice is spot on, and she has a dazzlingly beautiful voice, but it seems as if she hesitated on the beat just a few times and it gives the part a bit of an awkward feeling.

Your mixing and effect usage was spotless, and creates a real wall of sound that I've taken pleasure in listening to. I only wish it had been longer. This song is great. 9/10, 5/5

Good job, and Merry Christmas.

Thank you, a very good review and a good job on spotting the error on my behalf. I still think "there" all a bunch of bell ends though as all they do is zero-bomb my work. If they were to give a valid reason as to why then I wouldn't mind but until that day I just picture them as kids chomping down on there daddys love piece.

Your review was very kind though and I wish you a happy new year.

Not bad.

I wish the bass had been a nice soundfont and not what sounds to be BooBass. In the lower octaves, BooBass goes to hell in a handbasket.

You create a nice feel to the song, but I think it could have been better if the mix had been done a bit more thoughtfully, Bringing the hat up just a bit perhaps.

Mainly, my only complaints are the bass, and the song not going much of anywhere. Carbon copy remixes are bad.

4/5, 8/10

Sorrow-316 responds:

Well, i struggled finding the Right Bass, But i know i failed, i took the closest thing i could find, Im not that good of a Person when it comes to "bass". Thanks for Reviewing Though!

Very nice.

I see you did graduate from the step sequencer after all - but to be honest, FPC isn't much better. Really, let me send you a few soundfonts to play with. The same exact part on a better drum set would have sounded great. Even your drum fills are well=placed from section to section.

The melodic aspect, especially the doubling of the piano melody in other voices and branching harmonies is really nice. The messy slayer is done really well for effect, in my opinion, and makes a nice background accompaniment. Good job leveling it well in context of the ensemble.

That bridge-ish part around two minutes in is really nice, and the transition into it is really good. Nice end as well. Cold endings done well leave a good impact.

One of my other suggestions is to start experimenting a bit more with effects in the mixer.

Overall, this is so listenable and enjoyable. Good job. 8/10, 4/4.

Kuebic responds:

It's really nice having a comment from a percussionist, (but I find it kind of freaky you know right away that the drums were from FPC--but kind of cool...) and with so many good things to say, with ways to improve, I'm a happy person. About the mixer, I have (lightly) attempted to get it to do what I want, but gave up. Perhaps I will try again and have the mixer help out the bridge area. I tried my best on that area without the mixer, but it could be better. Thank you for taking the time to comment on my piece of work.

Very catchy.

This song would score high if the percussion had not been so rudimentary. I think the use of the basic step-sequencer stuff coupled with FL keys was both rather obvious and not really fitting. Percussion should drive a piece, hardly ever be the focus of it. I suggest finding a few drum soundfonts and opening those in the piano roll rather than using the step sequencer. PM me and I'll send you a few good ones to play with.

The piano loop, though, is very nice. If it had been higher in the mix and complemented rather than run over by the percussion, it could really shine through--especially with the choir-play at the end.

7/10, and 4/5 because it deserves more than a 3.

Kuebic responds:

Thank you very much for your comment and knowledge of the FL Studio. The drums were made with the step sequencer as you noticed without trying. Back then before I knew of the existance of the Piano Roll, the step sequencer was the way to go. I have greatly increased in my FL skillz and enjoy your comments on how to make my works better. It's also nice to know you liked the choir thing at the end. Some of my friends thought it was so random... glad you liked it.

Well,

I really like it. The only thing I dislike is the sharp, cutting treble channel. The cymbal hits don't help that, as every real impact carries a slightly stinging high hit.

Melodically, and in the robot-y bass interludes carried on a cloud by piano melodies and catchy set rhythms make for a nearly perfect song that's easy to fall in love with, especially with your play between piano and guitar near the end.

Fived and Faved. Lovely, sir.

jnry3 responds:

Thanks, Hyper-Freak92! ^_^ (Sorry for the late response, by the way.)

Well

I'm not sure how you made this, but it seems as if it's just a stereo pan with the same carbon-copied harmonies and parts as the original, and then an added pad into the background. Overall, could be better were it not looped monotonously.

I give you points though, because the filesize is 666.6 kb. That's pretty hilarious.

ZiggyZack99 responds:

Lol... you noticed :P

Decent, but mindless.

I remember doing this.

It has some drive and a tiny bit of sense to it, but considering your method...

Have you heard of Arnold Schönberg? Youtube him. This sounds similar, and I mean that in a slightly insulting way, as much as I respect the work put into atonal music.

FL takes time to learn; Years for some of us. My advice to you: Start off like I did. Learn keys, use C major to start, and write within it until you find something that isn't so out there.

When you're Steve Reich, you can go out there. For now, chill out and keep it diatonic, please.

Kuebic responds:

I didn't know of Arnold Schonberg until now. Thank you for comparing me to an amazing classical modern-music composer. I am a classical pianist myself and also enjoy classical music, but Arnold Schonberg is a style I've never heard of, but enjoy listening to.

Thank you for your advice, but I believe that I got a lot of FL studio down in the few months I used it (since I know the Keys, It was easier to me than some... ...thank God for not taking me an year to do a decent piece of work!)

Try listening to some of my other music. This random-note process was just for the bass riff. Everything else was added with some pattern. Perhaps it was my fault for not making it clear in the discription of the music. Also, the random note process was an experiment after I made most of the other songs on here. It turned out better than I thought.

Thank you very much for your review. I enjoy reviews, and would like more of your constructive criticisim.

Well-done, sir.

I really love the mixing of ethnic sounds into Western styles, and you took it to heart quite well. I wish you had found a few more wind chime samples to give it a more natural sound, and had paid more attention to keeping the melody on beat there in the beginning, where it's really exposed. Try bringing the drum volume down during the part around 2:10 or so to let the metal voices come up. Other than those minor cleaning issues, this is a really pleasant song. It has a nice groove to it, especially with the electronic bass with natural instruments feel. 5/5 for a solid track that makes me want to listen, 9/10 because it could have been near-perfect with a few more minutes' attention.

LucreOnBeats responds:

Thanks for the review. I didn't know the exact BPM of the sample (sitar), so I tried to fix it to 97 BPM, but it never quite got on. I heard it immedeately, but thought I might be able to cover it up with enough music. As for wind chime samples, I wish I had more too, lol. Thanks again.

Eh, so-so

eghcvg responds:

Danke!
Ich werde hören Sie Ihre Musik

Impressive, grasshopper.

I gotta say, I like this. The use of the ambient sound effects is nice, though I could say that it might be worth your time to allow more to gon musically as they play. Not so as to obscure them but just to add a little more flavor. Also, some ambient transition material might help improve the feel, I.E. a wind slowly picking up and diminishing just as the next section starts.

Great song, keep it up. I clicked on the first thing I saw and got gold, I'll be exploring more later on.

wyldfyre1 responds:

Its funny, i thought about adding some winds dying down and coming in here and there.. OR even rain in the background here and there.. I just couldn't find a good enough sound file to go with the song and make me happy. I may go looking again and add it in because i agree with you that it would bring uot some of the song.. especually the slower area's that lead up to the "Chorus" as i call it. Thanks for the review.
